China: 18 fruit Imports Below Standard in February

The General Office for Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine circulated an announcement on March 15th, titled "Summary Statement on Below Standard Agricultural Product Import in February 2018". This statement showed that altogether 18 shipments of imported agricultural products were below standard. These products came from Guatemala, USA, Thailand, Pakistan, Australia, Uganda, Vietnam, Canada, and Indonesia, as well as Taiwan.


60% of those shipments consisted of fruit and aquatic products. The fruit products that were below standard often contained harmful organisms and these shipments were often returned or destroyed. This included the following: 23,514 kg of fresh oranges from the USA; 8,000 kg of fresh rambutan from Vietnam; as well as 1,830 kg of oranges and 477 kg of tangerines from Taiwan.
