Egypt: “Mixed results for our citrus export season to China”
The Extra Global Company is located in Alexandria, Egypt. The company was established in 2006 and is a producer and exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables for the global importers, wholesalers and retailers around the world. Its main markets are are China, Europe, CIS, Far-East & Middle-East.
Ahmed Elsayed is responsible for the Export Department. He comments on the importance of China for the company: "The Chinese market is one of our major markets. Because of weather conditions this season, we couldn’t deliver the same quantities of Citrus this season considering the quality we do for Chinese market as we are very eager to deliver the best quality we can for our clients. Therefore, we shipped less quantity to China than we did in previous years. Also, we have launched a new brand earlier this year called Extra Fresh which reflect our creativity, the service and the quality we can produce for our clients.”
“We can be successful internationally because we have strict quality control stages. Our farms are managed by our agriculture department through an integrated food safety and quality management system that complies with the international standards of food industry. Therefore, Extra global has acquired accreditation such as Global Gap Certifications and ISO 9001.”
“Our Extra Fresh Brand has an attractive design. Its products are strong and can endure long distance shipping, storing and aggressive handling with relatively little loss. The packaging is made of a recyclable materials according to the international standards which will be very easy to dispose of, after use.
“Next to citrus we do grapes for China as well. Our grape season is coming closer and we have good volumes suitable for the Chinese market. We expect to do a great Grapes season with China this year. China remains a key market for the Extra Global Company. In September we will travel to Hong Kong to meet with traders at the annual Asia Fruit Logistica trade show."
