China: Shandong cherries arrive early
Each year, at the beginning of June, large volumes of cherries arrive at the Zhongpu Fruit Wholesale Market in Shandong Province. However, this year, they have already hit the market in the middle of May.
Shandong cherry cultivation areas have had a good crop this year. The cherries are small and don't look as good as the Northeast cherry, which makes their price more attractive for the customers. Because of its low price and the early arrival, Shandong cherries became very popular among sellers and consumers. According to an analysis by industry insiders, in the coming period, Shandong cherries will continue to arrive in large quantities. Prices will remain low and may fall even lower.
